Turkish–English Certified Document Translation for Law Firms

Uğur Arı — sworn translator (Kartal 12th Notary Office, Istanbul) · Reviewed: 9 October 2026

In short

Law firms in the UK, the US and other countries can send Turkish official and legal documents directly to me, Uğur Arı, a sworn Turkish–English translator registered with the Kartal 12th Notary Office in Istanbul. A signed certificate of translation accuracy can be provided on request, and you receive a written quote after the documents are reviewed. The receiving court or authority decides whether a translation is accepted.

Who this service is for

  • Immigration law firms preparing spouse, settlement, citizenship, Turkish Businessperson (ECAA) or U.S. family and employment-based applications that include Turkish documents.
  • International family law firms handling divorce, financial or child-related matters with Turkish court records, civil registry extracts or financial documents.
  • Companies and in-house legal teams that need Turkish company records, contracts or powers of attorney in English.
  • Document preparation teams and paralegals who need a translator they can contact directly about wording, stamps and annotations.

Documents I translate

Translation and certification options

Certificate of translation accuracy. A signed certificate in English stating that the translation is complete and accurate and that I am competent to translate from Turkish into English can be provided on request. For reference: USCIS requires a full English translation with the translator's certification of completeness, accuracy and competence (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)); GOV.UK guidance asks for confirmation that the translation is true and accurate, the date, the translator's full name and contact details. Other bodies may require more or different elements.

Sworn translation in Türkiye. As a translator sworn before a Turkish notary, I sign and seal the translation. See how a Turkish sworn translation differs from a certified translation abroad.

Notarisation. A Turkish notary certifies the sworn translator's signature, not the content, and is only needed when the receiving body asks for it. See sworn vs. notarised translation.

Apostille. An apostille is issued by the competent Turkish authority, not by the translator, and is used for countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention. See apostille in Türkiye.

Which of these a document needs depends on the country and the receiving body; the country-by-country requirements page summarises the common rules. No option guarantees acceptance.

How I work with law firms

  1. 1
    Send documents and scope

E-mail scans or PDFs with the purpose, the receiving country and body, and your deadline.

  2. 2
    Review

I check legibility, page count, stamps and annotations, and which certification the use requires.

  3. 3
    Written quote

You receive the fee, turnaround, certification options and payment details in writing.

  4. 4
    Translation

I translate the documents myself, including stamps, annotations and handwritten entries.

  5. 5
    Delivery

Signed translations are delivered as PDF by e-mail. Paper copies can be sent by courier on request at the recipient's cost; notarisation can be arranged where the receiving body requires it.

There is no client portal or automated integration; work is handled by e-mail and WhatsApp, directly with the translator.

International payments

International clients may pay by bank transfer or Western Union, where bank-account delivery is available. International bank transfers depend on the sending bank.

For Western Union transfers, please share the MTCN after initiating payment, by e-mail or WhatsApp only. Payment is confirmed once the funds reach our bank account. Transfer fees and payment instructions will be specified in the quotation.

Card payments, PayPal and Wise are not accepted.

Questions from law firms
Can a UK law firm use a translation prepared in Türkiye?

GOV.UK guidance on certified translations asks the translator to confirm that it is a true and accurate translation of the original document and to give the date of the translation, their full name and contact details; it does not require the translator to be based in the UK (checked 9 October 2026). Courts and other bodies can set their own rules, so the receiving body's requirements decide whether a particular translation is accepted. Please check them before ordering.

What does the translator's certification statement include?

On request, I provide a signed certificate in English stating that the translation is complete and accurate and that I am competent to translate from Turkish into English. Where a sworn translation is required, the translation also carries my signature and seal as a sworn translator. A certificate does not guarantee acceptance; each court or authority applies its own requirements.

Is notarisation always required?

No. A Turkish notary certifies the sworn translator's signature, not the content of the translation, and is only needed when the receiving body asks for it. If it is needed, it can be arranged at a notary office under that office's requirements.

Can documents be reviewed remotely?

Yes. Clear scans or PDFs sent by e-mail are enough to review the documents and prepare a quote. Whether the receiving body also wants the original document or a certified copy is a separate question for that body.

How are fees and delivery times confirmed?

After the documents have been reviewed, you receive a written quote stating the fee, the turnaround and the certification options. Work starts after the quote is approved.

Can international clients pay by Western Union?

Yes, where Western Union offers delivery to a bank account from your country, you can send the payment to our bank account in Türkiye through Western Union. After initiating the transfer, share the MTCN with me by e-mail or WhatsApp. The MTCN is not proof of payment: payment is confirmed once the funds reach our bank account. Transfer fees and payment instructions are specified in the quotation. International bank transfer is also available; card payments, PayPal and Wise are not accepted.

Can the firm work directly with the translator?

Yes. Your firm works directly with me, the translator who translates and signs the documents, with no agency in between.

Requirements and acceptance are set by the receiving court, authority or institution; practices vary and cannot be guaranteed. This page is general information, not legal advice.
