How is a Turkish contract translated into English?
Uğur Arı — sworn translator (Kartal 12th Notary Office) · Updated: 18 August 2026
Employment, lease, sales or distribution contracts are translated into English by a sworn translator and, for official use, notarized if required. The parties, obligations and defined terms must be rendered consistently. Corporate contracts are often requested together with company documents.
Exceptions and special cases
A sworn translation is not mandatory for every contract; it is needed only when an institution, court or counterparty requires it. An information-only translation may be non-sworn.
In long or technical contracts, terminological consistency is critical: recurring definitions and clauses are rendered with the same equivalents throughout.

No. A sworn translation is required only when an official body, court or counterparty asks for it; an information-only translation may be non-sworn.
What matters in a commercial contract translation?
Party titles, definitions, obligations and recurring clauses are rendered with consistent equivalents; figures and dates are preserved exactly.
Requirements and acceptance are ultimately set by the receiving institution, notary office or authority; practices vary and cannot be guaranteed. This page is general information, not legal advice.
