If you are coming to Istanbul on business and your Turkish counterparts do not speak English well, I accompany you to meetings, supplier visits, factory tours and appointments and interpret consecutively in both directions. I am based in Tuzla, on the Asian side, next to the industrial zones of Tuzla, Pendik and Gebze, so short bookings are possible there; bookings in Tuzla carry no travel cost, elsewhere travel is quoted separately. The service is coordinated by Uğur Arı, with a published hourly rate and a written quote before you commit.
Every booking is one continuous time slot; waiting time between meetings counts as booked time. Work split across the day (for example one hour in the morning and one in the afternoon) is priced as separate bookings. A regional minimum applies (table below). Half-day and full-day rates are fixed; travel is quoted separately for hourly bookings outside Tuzla, and travel and meals are quoted separately for half-day and full-day bookings, never as a flat fee: they are stated in your written quote in advance and apply only with your approval. Business meetings. Negotiations with Turkish customers, distributors or partners, at their office or yours: offers, contracts, technical specifications.
Supplier visits and sourcing. Price, lead-time, quality and sample discussions with Turkish manufacturers. Tuzla, Pendik and Gebze host shipyards, automotive suppliers, machinery and packaging plants.
Factory visits and audits. Walking the production line, quality audits, machine installation and commissioning, with on-the-spot interpreting.
Company visits and appointments. Introductory meetings, bank and company formalities, property viewings and business dinners where you need someone to carry the conversation in both directions.
Where, and the minimum booking
I work from Tuzla, at the eastern end of Istanbul's Asian side. Tuzla Organised Industrial Zone, the shipyards, Pendik Kurtköy, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Gebze OSB and Dilovası are my home ground; travel time depends on the exact address and the hour. Travel is not a flat fee: it is stated in your written quote in advance, according to the area and the scope of the booking, and applies only with your approval.
How it works

You receive the hours, the area, the fee and any travel or meal cost in writing; costs apply only once you approve them. Availability depends on my calendar; the booking is confirmed once I accept the date.
- 3Preparation
If you have a product catalogue, a term list or a company presentation, I read it beforehand. I sign a confidentiality agreement if you need one.
- 4On the day
I arrive at the agreed time. If the booked slot needs to be extended, the extra time is priced at the hourly rate stated in your written quote.
Who you are dealing with
The service is coordinated by Uğur Arı, a translation and interpreting graduate of Marmara University and a sworn translator whose oath is registered with the Kartal 12th Notary Office (Tuzla) and the Gebze 19th Notary Office (Çayırova) for English and French. This page sells English–Turkish interpreting only. If agreed before the service, the organisation can be arranged to suit your needs. For a good service, the arrangement should be agreed before the event date and carried out according to plan. Urgent requests are assessed case by case and priced accordingly. I interpret; I do not act as a tour guide, lawyer, estate agent, medical or court interpreter, or driver, and I do not arrange transport.
Documents and notary
If the visit also produces documents, I provide sworn translation of company documents and contracts separately: a single-page official document is 850 TRY. For signing at a notary, Turkish notaries require a sworn translator registered with that specific office; my oath is registered with the Kartal 12th (Tuzla) and Gebze 19th (Çayırova) Notary Offices, where I can interpret directly; for any other notary we confirm its requirement beforehand.
The form only prepares a WhatsApp message that you review before sending. No meeting content, participant names or documents are requested.
What is the minimum booking?
One hour in Tuzla. Two hours in Pendik, Gebze, Darıca, Kartal and Maltepe; three hours in Kadıköy, Ataşehir and Üsküdar. Online meetings (Zoom, Teams, Meet) have a one-hour minimum. Outside Tuzla, travel is stated in the written quote in advance.
Can I split a booking across the day?
No. Every booking is one continuous time slot; waiting time between meetings counts as booked time. One hour in the morning, one at lunch and one in the evening are three separate bookings, not one three-hour booking.
Is this simultaneous (booth) interpreting?
No. This is consecutive interpreting: the speaker pauses every few sentences and I interpret. No booth or headsets, and the meeting takes roughly twice as long. Conference-style simultaneous interpreting with two interpreters is not offered. More in the guide: hiring an interpreter in Istanbul.
Can you interpret at a notary in Istanbul?
My oath is registered with the Kartal 12th Notary Office (Tuzla) and the Gebze 19th Notary Office (Çayırova), where I can interpret directly. Other notary offices require their own oath record, so we confirm with the specific notary before the appointment.
How do I pay from abroad?
Prices are set in Turkish lira; the USD, EUR and GBP figures on this page are rounded reference values. Payment is by bank transfer to a Turkish IBAN or in cash on the day.
Is the meeting confidential?
Yes. Nothing discussed is shared with third parties, and I sign a confidentiality agreement on request. For the quote, please do not send meeting content or participant names.
