Certified Turkish to English translation for Norway

Uğur Arı — sworn translator, Kartal 12th Notary Office · Updated October 11, 2026

Short answer

For diploma recognition, Norwegian immigration, family documents and other procedures that accept English translations. We translate Turkish documents into English — not into Norwegian. HK-dir accepts translations into English made by a translation agency in Norway or abroad, and does not require them to be apostilled; UDI, Norwegian universities and Skatteetaten set their own conditions, which we check before you pay. Translations are prepared in Türkiye by Uğur Arı, a sworn translator whose oath is recorded at the Kartal 12th Notary Office, signed and stamped by hand on every page. A standard single-page document is €29, an official or academic document €39; standard documents are delivered as a PDF within 24 hours. Send your documents online for a written quote.

Diploma recognition by HK-dir

For recognition of foreign higher education (bachelor, master, PhD), HK-dir asks for documents not in English or a Nordic language to be translated into Norwegian or English, and lists among accepted translations: “Translations done by a translation agency in Norway or abroad.” It also states: “We do not require translations to be apostilled.”

HK-dir’s format rules: it must be clear who translated the documents, and every page must carry a stamp and/or signature applied by hand after the translation is completed, or a qualified electronic signature; stamps or signatures pasted in with a graphics program are not accepted. For HK-dir orders we stamp and sign every page by hand and send you a scan of the finished translation, together with the original-language document you upload. HK-dir may ask for originals or original translations; we post the signed paper translation on request (courier paid by you).

Many Turkish universities also issue an English diploma or transcript; HK-dir accepts documents issued in English by the institution, so check this first. Other HK-dir procedures (vocational education, professional qualifications) have their own rules. Source: HK-dir — documentation requirements, higher education.

Diplomas and transcripts for Norwegian universities

Universities set their own requirements, so check your programme’s page. NTNU, for example, asks for “an authorised translation into English” of documents not in English or a Scandinavian language; the University of Oslo’s NORA page for Türkiye asks for an official translation by an authorized translator of both the transcript and the diploma. Whether a sworn translation made in Türkiye meets this is the university’s decision — send us the programme link and we check the wording before you pay.

Diploma and one-page transcript: €55 as two standard documents. Multi-page transcripts are quoted per document. Diploma and transcript translation.

UDI: family and work applications

UDI asks for documents that are not in Norwegian or English to be translated into Norwegian or English, with the translator’s name and the date shown on the translation; the exact rules depend on the application type, so follow the checklist for your own application on udi.no. UDI decides whether a translation is accepted.

ApplicationTurkish documents we translate
Family immigration (spouse, children)Marriage certificate, birth certificate, population register extract (nüfus kayıt örneği), divorce decree, custody decision, income documents
Work and skilled worker permitsDiplomas and transcripts, employment letters, work experience letters, professional certificates

If you apply from Türkiye and your checklist asks for the translation to be stamped by the authorities or a notary, we arrange Turkish notarisation of the translation and quote it together with the translation. Tell us the application type when you send the documents.

Skatteetaten: registering a marriage, divorce or birth

To register a marriage concluded abroad in the National Population Register, Skatteetaten accepts certificates in English or a Nordic language, and states: “If the translation is done abroad, the translation must also have an apostille or be legalised.” Original certificates usually need an apostille as well, and documents are sent by post — electronic certificates are not accepted.

For these cases we prepare the English translation, have it notarised in Türkiye, arrange the apostille on the translation and send the paper documents by courier, in one total written quote. The apostille on your Turkish certificate and the apostille on the translation are two separate certificates. Remarrying in Norway after a foreign divorce also needs approval from the County Governor (Statsforvalteren). Source: Skatteetaten — registration of a marriage solemnised abroad.

English or Norwegian?

English is enough wherever the receiving authority accepts it — HK-dir, many university admissions, UDI applications and Skatteetaten registrations above. Some procedures need a Norwegian translation by a Norwegian state-authorised translator, for example documents for Norwegian courts and health-personnel authorisation; we do not offer Norwegian translations, so for those we tell you before you pay.

What our certified translation contains

  • A complete English translation of the document, including stamps, annotations and the finality note of court decisions.
  • The translator’s certification statement, name, signature and stamp on every page, the date, and our contact details.
  • A PDF scan of the signed and stamped translation; the paper original by courier when your procedure needs it.

Apostille: source document or translation?

Two different certificates are involved. An apostille on your Turkish source document is issued by the Turkish authorities; a Turkish criminal record or court decision can receive an e-Apostil online (Ministry of Justice), other documents a paper apostille. An apostille on the translation is a separate step, needed only where the receiving authority asks for it — for example Skatteetaten when the translation is made abroad. HK-dir does not require translations to be apostilled.

How to order

Everything is done online, whether you live in Norway, in Türkiye or elsewhere.

  • Step 1 — Send your documents. A PDF or a clear photo of each Turkish document by WhatsApp or email.
  • Step 2 — Tell us where they will be used. HK-dir, a Norwegian university, UDI, Skatteetaten, or something else.
  • Step 3 — Get the exact price and scope. A: our certified translation is enough — the euro tariff applies. B: notarisation, an apostille or posted originals are needed — you get one total quote for all steps. C: our service does not fit your procedure — we tell you before you pay.

Payment is by international bank transfer to our IBAN or by Western Union where delivery to a bank account is available; cash is possible in person in Türkiye. Your written quote states the exact amount in euro and the payment details; bank and Western Union fees are not included, and work starts once the payment reaches our account. Card, Vipps, PayPal, Wise and Revolut are not accepted.

Common questions
Can I use a sworn translator in Turkey for UDI?

UDI asks for translations into Norwegian or English that show who translated the document and when, and the receiving case officer decides whether a translation is accepted. Our translations into English are made by a sworn translator in Türkiye, signed and stamped; if your checklist asks for a notarised translation, we arrange it. Send us your application type and we confirm the scope before you pay.

Does UDI accept certified English translations?

UDI’s checklists ask for documents that are not in Norwegian or English to be translated into Norwegian or English, so English is an accepted target language. Follow the checklist for your own application on udi.no.

Can you translate my Turkish diploma for HK-dir?

Yes. HK-dir accepts translations into English made by a translation agency in Norway or abroad, does not require them to be apostilled, and asks for a stamp and/or hand signature on every page or a qualified electronic signature. Our translations are stamped and signed by hand on every page. A diploma is €39; a diploma and a one-page transcript €55.

Can you translate my Turkish transcript for a Norwegian university?

Yes. Requirements differ by university and programme; some ask for an authorised translation into English. Send us the programme link and we check the wording before you pay. Multi-page transcripts are quoted per document.

How much does certified Turkish to English translation cost for Norway?

A standard single-page document is €29, an official or academic document €39, two standard documents €55, up to 5 standard documents €129 and up to 10 €239. Divorce decrees start at €59 with a written quote; notarisation, apostilles and courier delivery are quoted separately.

Can you translate a Turkish marriage certificate for Norway?

Yes. For a UDI family application the certified English translation is €39, with notarisation added if your checklist asks for it. To register the marriage with Skatteetaten, a translation made abroad also needs an apostille, and the documents are posted; we quote translation, notarisation, apostille and courier together.

Can you translate a Turkish divorce decree for Norway?

Yes, from €59 with a written quote for your document. We translate the decision with its finality annotation (kesinleşme şerhi), and arrange notarisation and an apostille when the receiving authority needs them.

Can I order certified Turkish translation from Turkey for Norway?

Yes. If you are in Türkiye, our Turkish lira prices apply and you can pay by bank transfer in Türkiye or in cash in person; notarisation can be arranged locally. From Norway or elsewhere, you pay in euro by bank transfer or Western Union.

Do I need a Norwegian translation instead of English?

Only where the receiving authority requires Norwegian, for example Norwegian courts and health-personnel authorisation, which ask for a Norwegian state-authorised translator. We translate into English only and tell you before you pay if English does not fit your procedure.

Do I need an apostille on the translation?

It depends on the authority. HK-dir does not require translations to be apostilled. Skatteetaten requires an apostille on translations made abroad. The apostille on your Turkish source document is a separate certificate.

Requirements and acceptance are set by the receiving Norwegian authority or institution; acceptance cannot be guaranteed. We do not provide Norwegian translations and are not Norwegian state-authorised translators. This page is general information, not legal or immigration advice.
