Turkish Divorce Decree Translation
Uğur Arı — sworn translator, Istanbul · Updated August 21, 2026
A Turkish divorce decree (boşanma ilamı) requires both the court judgment and the finality annotation (kesinleşme şerhi) to be translated and certified. USCIS needs both documents to confirm the divorce is legally final. From $24.90 per page.
Turkish divorce documents
Boşanma ilamı — the court judgment of divorce issued by a Turkish Family Court (Aile Mahkemesi). Includes the court name and docket number, names of both parties, grounds for divorce, and the judgment text.
Kesinleşme şerhi — the finality annotation stamped or attached by the court, certifying that the appeal period has passed and the judgment is legally final. Without this, the divorce is not enforceable and USCIS may reject the submission.
Nüfus kayıt örneği (boşanma kaydı) — a civil registry extract from the Directorate of Population showing the divorce event. Can serve as supplementary evidence alongside the court documents.

What is a Turkish boşanma ilamı?
The boşanma ilamı is the Turkish court judgment of divorce. It must carry the kesinleşme şerhi (finality annotation) to be legally effective. USCIS typically requires both.
Does USCIS require both the judgment and the finality annotation?
Yes. The kesinleşme şerhi confirms the divorce is no longer appealable and is legally final. Without it, USCIS may not accept the divorce as concluded.
How many pages is a Turkish divorce decree?
Typically 2–5 pages: the judgment itself plus the finality annotation. Send all pages you have — we'll advise on what needs to be included.
