Types of Turkish birth documents
Doğum belgesi — a single-page document issued by Turkish hospitals at birth, or by the civil registry (Nüfus Müdürlüğü). Lists name, date of birth, place of birth, parents' names, and TC identity number.
Nüfus kayıt örneği — a civil registry extract (family record) showing all registered life events: birth, marriage, military service, death. Contains TC kimlik no, cilt no (volume), aile sıra no (family sequence number), and a complete record of parents, siblings, and spouse. USCIS frequently requests this for family-based petitions.
e-Devlet (e-Government) birth document — a barcode-stamped electronic extract obtainable online at e-devlet.gov.tr. Legally equivalent to the physical registry document; the barcode/QR code is verified but does not require translation.

What is a Turkish birth certificate called?
The main types are doğum belgesi (birth document) and nüfus kayıt örneği (civil registry extract). The nüfus kayıt örneği is more comprehensive and is often preferred by USCIS for family petitions.
Does a Turkish birth certificate need to be notarized for USCIS?
No. USCIS requires only a certified English translation with the translator's signed declaration. Notarization of the translation is not required.
